This match was against the dream players Cathy F and Dot C, with lead, Alf. AND we started really well leading by 6 shots on the 6th end. Then it happened - the 4 shot win by Reading, followed closely by a 5 shot win by them. I think our hearts dropped and all of us stopped playing with confidence. Reading grew in confidence and were impossible to beat ;-(

A very close match to the end - last end Reading got 3 points. It could have been either team to the last end. Great match, well done team!

What an enjoyable match. Our teams were evenly matched and we all had our individual moments of glory. And off course - so much better for both teams - a draw!

We had a great start, not multiples, but 7 good ends. We felt quietly confident of winning this one. However the opposition took 5 shots in one end, and 4 in another. Then it all fell to pieces for us after that. 5 ends with no score, and then 3 sad ends with 1 or 2 shots each. But we enjoyed the challenge;-)

This was a very evenly matched game - often we were on the same score! The opposition Skip insisted he wanted to leave by 12:15. At that stage however we were down 10:13. On enquiring about the rules it was confirmed that we needed to play a full 18 ends. Hence by the time we got to 18 ends we were winning! Some good shots by all of us. Well done team.

I’m not too sure what happened to team member Burt, but luckily Peter W was able to step into his place and play Lead. We were against a very tough opponent in David, the Skip, a county player. I (IW) was really struggling to match his bowls. Things were not looking too bright for us until about the 10th end. Before this we only had 4 points. We took turns in doing something brilliant, and in the end we started catching up to make it a respectable score.

The return match against Liverpool was a nail-biter. It was good to welcome Anne to the team, and she had an excellent game as lead. We zoomed ahead to 9-2, then they came back at us, even going in front at 10-12. But then all three of us started playing well again, and it looked as though we had the game won, leading 19-14 with two ends to go. But then they scored two, and were holding three with our last wood to go. Was it going to be another draw? But the Spurs captain requested a 'Peter Green special', and Peter duly obliged, sliding third wood into a crowded head.

Hurrah, our first match in the Summer League. A very enjoyable one at that as our teams were evenly matched. It was neck to neck for the whole match. We all had a shining star moment, especially Brenda who drew that essential last shot which brought us to a draw!
